How Writers Can Go Green, Earth Day and Every Day

Happy Earth Day, everyone! Today's post will focus on how we as writers can help the environment.

As writers, we use up so. much. paper! It's just an occupational hazard. But what we can do to lessen our environmental impact is use recycled printer paper. Here are some relatively affordable brands to choose from if you're interested:

When querying, if given the choice to submit electronically or through the mail, submit your materials over email to reduce paper waste and energy consumption!

Submit to literary journals and magazines that are either online or print with recycled paper!

When editing, print double-sided to cut paper waste in half!

Print with environmentally-friendly ink, like barefoot press

One of the best things we as writers can do to help the planet though? Incorporate environmental themes into our stories. Our words reach people, and as we know, words matter, a lot.

"Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It's not."
